YE gentlemen and ladies fair Who grace this famous city, Just listen, if you've time to spare, While I rehearse a ditty; And for the opportunity Conceive yourselves quite lucky, For 'tis not often that you see A hunter from Kentucky

YE gentlemen and ladies fair Who grace this famous city, Just listen, if you've time to spare, While I rehearse a ditty; And for the opportunity Conceive yourselves quite lucky, For 'tis not often that you see A hunter from Kentucky. Oh Kentucky, the hunters of Kentucky! Oh Kentucky, the hunters of Kentucky! We are a hardy, free-born race, Each man to fear a stranger; Whate'er the game, we join in chase, Despising toil and danger.

If Solomon Jackson had known what fate held in store before he abandoned his trap-lines and headed back to Kentucky, maybe he would never have set out. If curiosity had not tempted him, perhaps he would never have stumbled across Walter Krank and saved him from a miserable death. But then he would never have become a partner in a gold mine. Nor would he have found himself facing a gang of ruthless outlaws and a one-way ticket to Boot Hill!
