I enjoyed this one as I aways do. But I found there was alot more written by Charles than Kate in this book and the last it seems. Maybe due to the fact that the male authors father was involved in early wireless, or maybe the woman author was busier on her own single books. But I hope that there will be more of Kates writing in future books, and she won't fall into the background as just an assisting wife, in favor of Charles writing of his detective work. There needs to be more of a balance or at least more Kate, since it's her series. I started reading this series because it's was a leading womans protagonist story and would hate to see that change. But thanks for the great writing anyway.

Her we go on a trip to visit the era of the late 1800's to the early 1900's and what an adventure it is. I have enjoyed reading many novels by Robin Paige and have been very pleased with the view we receive of Loondon, England and the surrounding towns and villages. Sometimes we take a train trip completely across to lesser known parts of the country and always very interesting situations arise. This story takes place during the times of discoveries and inventions by well-known inventors and scientists such as Marconie (invented the of the wireless tetegraph). It is always interesting to me to include the real people of the time and share something of their lives as well. As usual this is a cozy mystery and is minus the gore of other novels yet one can see and feel the intensity of the crimes and the efforts to solve the mysteries. I am sure you will enjoy this work as much as I have and look forward to the opportunity to reread this intriguing story. Mary-Ellen Batcho

This is the 12th and last in the Victorian/Edwardian mystery series. The primary historical figure is Marconi and focuses on his wireless (transmission of Morse code) technology. Charles and Kate work to solve several mysterious deaths, some related to wireless, and the drowning death of a young girl whose mother's estate they are visiting. There are some supernatural elements including a seance with ghostwriting that provides some historical atmosphere. While I found the historical information to be interesting, the mystery lacked some punch and there was some poor editing, such as Kate introducing herself as Lady Sheridan Sheridan. I also found her talking alter-ego, Beryl to continue to be annoying. While it is always sad to get to the end of a series, this one has suffered in the last few books, with the exception of Death at Blenheim Palace. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the series overall, and look forward to other series by Susan Wittig Albert (half of the writing duo of this series along with her husband, Bill).

The final entry in the series finds our couple in Cornwall at the Marconi wireless station. Several accidents have occurred resulting in death so Bradford asks his neighbor to get to the bottom of it in his role as member of the board. Meanwhile, a friend of Patsy's has lost a daughter so she and Kate go to visit. Secrets abound and a Royal Visit means there is a deadline to sort things out. I wished we had met her American cousin, but hearing that she keeps in touch and sent money home did make me feel better as I had wondered what was her relationship with them.

This series is written by Susan Wittig Albert and her husband Bill. It is set in Victorian and Edwardian England, as you progress through the 12 books. Each is a wonderful mystery solved with the help of a prominent historical figure. The Lord of the manor and his American wife (not married when the series begins) meet and make friends with some of the most well-known people of the time, who with their influence, help solve the mysteries. Each story involves a lot of historical research that ties all the events together and makes for a most delightful read.
I have never read any books of this genre that took so much work to be created and are so very historically accurate. Be certain to read them in order.

I loved this story, in fact I've read the whole series and highly recommend it! The period in history is quite eventful and the some famous people from the period are carefully woven into the plot lines. The research is excellent and the characters are wonderful. I'm only sorry the series is at an end!

So sorry to be at the end of this series.. I will have to go find another one. Great writer and well researched to blend fiction with real events and people. Really enjoyed them all.
I liked this series and this ebook from Amazon because Kate's activities in solving the crimes were as important as Charles' were. In fact, it was amazing to me how beautifully their stories meshed. The threat of war was a very real one. I had never realized how early the Kaiser had started to prepare his invasion of Europe and the United Kingdom.
