Originally Published 1922. My amusement was derived from the fact that the camel part of the story is literally true; in fact, I have a standing engagement with the gentleman involved to attend the next fancy–dress party to which we are mutually invited, attired as the latter part of the camel-this as a sort of atonement for being his historian. MAY DAY. This somewhat unpleasant tale, published as a novelette in the "Smart Set" in July, 1920, relates a series of events which took place in the spring of the previous year. Each of the three events made a great impression upon me.

Reviews about Cast from the Edge: Tales of an Uncommon Fly Fisher (3):
Axebourne
This is an amazing gem, like Sadil's earlier book. If you grew up along the coast, surfed, fished (bait, fly, bone jigs, inflated worms, whatever), smoked a bit, got lost on dirt tracks in Baja, raised kids, were a father - or a son - you will resonate with this. And even if you weren't, or didn't, there is writing here that surprises and delights in its poignancy and penetration. A great book that is and isn't about ocean fly-fishing.
Skunk Black
I can think of nothing more complimentary than to want to meet the protagonist of any story. After completing this book, I wish that I could meet the fictional author of the journals and share a cup of coffee and swap stories. I'm ordering Sadil's "Angling Baja" today.
