Ol' man Packard's gran'son," he heardone man say. In the thick darkness lying under the poplar tree it was severalminutes before he was certain that his horse was gone. He had tetheredthe animal himself; there was no dangling bit of rope to indicate abroken tie-rope.

Why, burn it, man," he exploded once during the fore part of theinterview, "the boy is a Packard! I'm proud of him. We're going tomake a real man out of Stephen yet. Haven't I said the words a dozentimes: 'Break a fool an' make a man!' I'm tellin' you, the las'Packard to be spoiled by havin' too much easy money has lived an' died. All we got to do with Stephen is put him on foot; set him down in thegood ol'-fashioned dirt where he's got to work for what he gets, an'he'll come through.

Man to man. Steve Packard's pulses quickened and a bright eagerness came into his eyes as he rode deeper into the pine timbered mountains. To day he was on the last lap of a delectable journey. Protagonist Steve Packard comes from a long line of rough-and-tumble men who make decisions at the drop of a hat, and when he gets the urge to put his career as a sailor on hold and travel to his childhood stomping, he doesn't stop to question it - he just goes. But giving into this nostalgic impulse may be the worst mistake in the long line of blunders that is his life.

Like the character development he makes one can picture each player using their imagination as well.

Was not crazy about the ending as it never was clear how the evil señorita ended up one assumes She and Rios were trapped with no way back but maybe Barlow ends up killing both.

Any I am moving into Jackson books.

This one went like I prefer all stories to progress. I must be getting old I like to see love and happiness win. It still has plenty of action.
