At the same time, off Bermuda, a bathysphere operated by NUMA and overseen by Kurt Austin is attacked and becomes stranded half a mile below the surface. Only quick thinking and bold action will save the crew - which includes the head of a certain, now-missing undersea lab - from a watery grave. Austin is convinced both events are connected, and he puts NUMA on the case. Story line is the type of thing you could read in the newspaper.

Medusa: A Novel From The NUMA Files, by Cussler, Clive And Paul Kemprecos. Full disclosure, I'm a Clive Cussler fan. Although I haven't read all of his books yet, I currently own all of them that are currently released and am just a bit behind in my reading. This is another "Kurt Austin Adventure" written with Paul Kemprecos. For me, the book started slow for about the first third of the book. In my opinion, this is not typical for Clive Cussler or a "Kurt Austin" story. However, the story line did pick up and it had an ending made for a movie.

Reviews about Medusa (The Numa Files) (7):

I've read ~30 Clive Cussler books and enjoy them despite their somewhat predictable plot layout and pace. Perhaps having read so many of his books they come as little to no surprise. The details vary of course but the overall tempo and series of character interactions seems like a common thread. For me the predictability does not detract from the reading enjoyment. I suspect that is because I suspend disbelief when I pick up one his books because they're fiction.

I have read many of Cussler's books. Each of them are great. Its easier knowing the characters from book-to-book. The story lines are always great. They are different enough that I can't see what is going to happen or predict who is the bad guy or what the reason is for the problem they face.
Thanks for good reading. There is usually not any graphic sex scenes or gory detailed descriptions. The wars or fights are detailed but not so much that it is hard to read.

This story has it all, from surface ships to submarines, to exotic places to medicine and science. Well done to Clive and Paul. Highly recommended!

My wife is a dedicated Clive Cussler fan & I get these books for her but I read them as well. Cussler is always good. Though some of his stuff is purely fantasy (Raising the Titanic, etc.) they still make a good story. The way he has transitioned from the early DIRK Pitt to Numa, Fargo & Oregan series has been good. I will always be a Clive Cussler fan RAG

Haven't gotten to the end yet...I miss Dirk Pitt though...Austin isn't too bad. You can't say Cussler isn't prolific...biggest problem I have is remembering if I read this, that or another! :)

I've read the first 7 books in this series and this is the best one so far. I liked the plot and especially one bad guy. Loved the first part of the book. Great ending

I truly enjoyed this book. While following the standard "heroes vs zeros" tale & all the subplots & escapes that border on the impossible, this book took some unexpected turns that kept me even more interested than I thought I would be (I read all of Cussler's books). The overall premise - that the ocean could hold the key to solving diseases - could've been explored a little more, a minor complaint. I'll read again in a couple months to get more out of this one.
Just a wonderfully entertain story with twist and turns with a "wow"factor. Cannot wait to get to#9 For more adventure
