It's amazing how Barry Sadler takes historical facts and spins Casca into history. Truly a great story of Mexico and the Spanish invasions of their lands by Cortez.

Truly a great story of Mexico and the Spanish invasions of their lands by Cortez. The main characters were developed very well allowing the reader to either root for their death or prey for their survival.

They have defeated the Tlaxcalans without the loss of a man and have made them their servants, adding the forces of the Tlaxcalan to their own.

Barry Sadler people to the sword when they resisted them.

And the book, reminiscent of Book God of Death, but not nearly as good, is still a crowning achivement in historical adventure. Casca fans just want more action and adventure, watching to see how many ways Casca can die, only to come back to bloody life. Well worth your time.

Reviews about Casca #10: Conquistador (7):

Barry Sadler books were a staple during my infantry days back in the Clinton era. They're well written with well thought-out descriptions without being overly wordy. Beware that these books can be quite gruesome on occasion (like most military fiction).
Maucage
Great review of the conquest of Mexico and of the possible mindset of the Axtecs to aid in its outcome.
Llbery
Another great Sadler historical fiction.

It's amazing how Barry Sadler takes historical facts and spins Casca into history. Truly a great story of Mexico and the Spanish invasions of their lands by Cortez. The main characters were developed very well allowing the reader to either root for their death or prey for their survival. Casca plays both sides of the forces and once again walks away to continue on through history, but for Cortez and his men, not so much.

This novel was a historical treat, but still somehow coming up short, overall. It could have been better.

But after reading some of the others after book 14, it definately could have been much worse.
