My favourite of Emily Gee's wonderful fantasies. This author has a beautifully lyrical writing style and in this story of secret agents and undercover politics set in a medieval-type fantasy world, she uses it to its full potential.

Like all her books, it starts out slow but gets much better and even becomes unputdownable. it's got spying, court intrigue, and a run for their lives. Very good.

I now own every single book Gee has published and all of her books are on my reread list(a list containing no more than 20 books). I really enjoy how she tests the characters and makes them question society rules and making a path of your own. Well worth the read.
Kirinaya
Not bad, not good, very much in the 'I have read this one before' category, Danger, romance and a chance to talk about expensive and gorgeous clothes.
IWAS
A good, but not great story of spies, national politics, sexual politics and romance in a sort of middle ages Europe-type world.

Lots of suspence... Mystery ...unexpected twists and turns with a little love story thrown in.... A good read !!....In fact liked the authors style so much , ordered "The Sentinel Mage "next to read!

While some of this was a bit silly, and the author is obviously obsessed with pole smoking, a high degree of suspense was maintained throughout the book.
Ignore the spelling errors in this story, please, and simply read it. It's lovely. There are moments of terror, and horror, but I found it to be lovely by the end.
