Reviews about Memoirs of a Space Traveler (English and Polish Edition) (7):

Lem's humor reminds me of Dougls Adams. Honestly, I wasn't expecting writing of this quality from a translation, but this is fantastic. i haven't read it in the original Polish, so don't know if any details were lost, but the English version is an incredibly entertaining read.

I read this book sometime last year when i came across it in a library, thought the silly looking robot might make for a good character somewhere in the book. lol i loved the book! its a few different tales and they are all very imaginative and well written. As a fan of sci-fi this book turned into one of my favorites instantly. the stories make u think of real life and ponder deep sometimes. not many books have made me do that. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read by a great author.

It was OK, it suffered a bit by the fact that some of the ideas don't seem new anymore because they've been discussed in newer science fiction.
Arith
I almost missed this author. Caught his name watching an Issac Asimov interview.
I would highly recommend him as this will round off your collection.
Windbearer
I don't really get the hype, but it was OK.
MegaStar
Wry, erudite, witty, in Lem's mannered, Soviet bloc style. Underneath is barely restrained contempt for the stupidity which Lem sees around him, and also reverence for the processes and achievements of mathematics and science. OK, maybe Lem is the Jane Austen of SF? And the Nixie tube.
Blackredeemer
years ahead of his time. brilliant social and psychological commentary. highly enjoyable.
Enough with the reviews already. Makes me want to go to paper catalogs or a bookstore. A clerk won't follow me down the aisle demanding my opinion.
