The role of books in Electrical Engineering higher education is appraised by considering their use in courses, their selection and their procurement

The role of books in Electrical Engineering higher education is appraised by considering their use in courses, their selection and their procurement. The importance of libraries and co-operation with campus bookshops is also discussed.

* Key equations are followed by a brief explanation to increase student comprehension of important mathematical concepts. * Modern op amp is presented as a versatile linear circuit element. * Highly motivational use of op amps with SPICE for exploratory active circuit design. * SPICE tutorial material placed in clearly marked sections that can be skipped or de-emphasized. No reliance on SPICE or other computer methods in the remaining sections. * Balanced emphasis given to the complementary time, phasor, and domain approaches which are the core of modern linear circuit analysis.

It was just what my son needed who was in college. This book is very helpful in assuring his understanding of the course.

I used the 4th edition at my university. I looked through the 5th edition in hopes of seeing improvements. There are none. If you are unfortunate enough to need this book for class; I am sorry. There are much better texts out there. This book, or the authors, seem to take pride in making this material harder than it actually is. Don't expect to learn from this book, find other resources

Take my suggestion: "Don't ever buy this book". I am a second year student and my school use this book as a text for Introduction to EE. Since my instructor is so bad in explanation, at the very beginning, I thought, I could rely on this text for understanding. I HAVE READ EVERY SINGLE WORD IN THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS AND REPEATED SO MANY TIMES AND STILL, I DON'T COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THINGS. Very vey hard to follow. If you don't believe what I said, read it yourself before buying it.

This book contains a complete overview with great detail making this otherwise complex subject seem greatly simplified. Like a great intsructor , the writers of this text leave an impression of simplicity rather than confusion within complexity. This book deserves all five stars.

I had this instructor at LSU may years ago. The class was much better than the book. The book is poorly organized as are the examples. I have read many circuit analysis books and this is definitely the worst.
