Heinz Nowarra's book "DORNIER DO 335 "Pfeil"" is about the same length, width and weight as a Squadron/Signal . Don't waste your money. I've found most of the Schiffer Publishing books of this type far inferior in quality when compared to the Squadron/Signal publications

Heinz Nowarra's book "DORNIER DO 335 "Pfeil"" is about the same length, width and weight as a Squadron/Signal publication but that is as far as the resemblence goes. It consists of little more than a number of black & white photos of the DO 335 with a few line drawings and on cutaway diagram that must have been greatly reduced from a larger image because it is hard to decipher. I've found most of the Schiffer Publishing books of this type far inferior in quality when compared to the Squadron/Signal publications. Just a loose compilation of old photo's with not much information.

Heinz Nowarra's book "DORNIER DO 335 "Pfeil"" is about the same length, width and weight as a Squadron/Signal publication but that is as far as the resemblence goes. There is a small amount of commentary but no camouflage & insiginia guides found in the Squadron/Signal books.

If you don't want to spend the $50+ for one of the Monogram books and are desperate for something about the Pfeil then this book is usuable.

OK book, especially if you can get it for a good sale price (I paid $4.95 plus $3.99 mailing fee for my copy). The best (maybe only) feature of the book is the large number of photos that you probably will never find anyplace else. There are also a couple of color photos of the restored model that has been placed in the German Museum in Munich as an example of creativity in German aircraft building.

The text on the technical development is short and is really only appropriate or interesting for a reader who has little or no existing knowledge of the airplane. There is little original information here. The most informative new material is in pages 3 - 5 describing Claude Dornier's previous interest in the design of airplanes powered by tandem engines. In my opinion, the best discussion of the development of this airplane is still "Warplanes of the Third Reich" by William Green (published in 1972), pages 156 - 164.

Just a loose compilation of old photo's with not much information. There are web pages that offer more info than the Schiffer series. If you want good reference books with excellent photography then go with the Squaron/Signal "Walk Around" and "In Action" series.
