It also includes tools for gathering reading data in the content areas of social studies and science. I teach a 3/4 combination class and am currently using this inventory to evaluate my students' reading skills and strategies.

The inventory includes word lists, an informal interview, reading passages for students with matching scoring guides for the teacher to perform running records, a CD with video clips & forms, and thorough instructions for conducting each part of the inventory. It also includes tools for gathering reading data in the content areas of social studies and science. I teach a 3/4 combination class and am currently using this inventory to evaluate my students' reading skills and strategies. It is an excellent tool for all teachers; however, it does take time to do a complete inventory for each child.

I returned one of these books because the online access code has already been redeemed. The replacement book arrived and it actually had the same access code! Also, the inside covers were different. I suspect that these books are counterfeit. I'll be returning both and notifying the publisher.

With the computerized MAP testing, it is hard to see exactly where the errors are made.
There is no substitute for sitting with a student and evaluating them individually. This is a great
tool to assess student performance.

As a classroom teacher, it's always a challenge to find an assessment tool that is quick and easy to administer yet covers multiple ability levels. This newest version of the Analytical Reading Inventory is the answer. As fund become available, we hope to buy a copy for every teacher K-5.
