This is a brand new book at a great price. Publication Year 2014. Publisher Fairchild Books.

Through step-by-step illustrations, Diana Kingsley draws on her professional and academic experience to show readers how to create beautiful detailed interior design drawings to share with clients, with detailed examples showing how to render furniture, floors, walls, windows, plants in floor plans and elevations, using only drafting pencils, a T-square and a triangle. Instead of unattractive plain boxes for furniture, the reader will learn to define them with handsome detail. Beginning with instructions on how to line up a T-square on the paper, to easily set up and work on any drafting board and covering how to properly use tracing paper layering to expand design ideas, all the way through to completion of the little pieces of art representing design ideas and concepts.

The new edition builds on the success of the first edition, expanding the coverage of elevations by adding use of gray-tones for additional depth, adding new material on exterior and landscaping, and generally enhancing the content and drawings that make up the book's substance.

Reviews about Hand Drafting for Interior Design (6):
DEAD-SHOT
The language is simple and easily comprehendible, but there are no techniques for practicing. This is more of a do or don't method: the author gives examples of acceptable and exceptionable technique as well as a examples of design and lettering you would want to avoid. Though there are step-by-step examples, there are no exercises with objectives to practice on your own. I feel it would be helpful to have sections where the student can work on their own to meet a chapter objective with the book aiding in details along the way, similar to how math is exercised for students.

The only problem is that the measures have to be converted to metric.

I got this book in the mail a couple weeks ago and it was exactly what I was looking for. The book is very easy to follow step by step, and the language is very clear and simple.

I teach hand drafting classes for interior designers and this book brought me some fresh ideas to use and teach my students new techniques. The book is very visual and well put together.

The author presents a lot of drawing techniques that are hardly seen in other books, like drapery, rugs, window styles, flooring patterns and amazing lettering, besides all aspects of interiors design expected from an interior design book.

This should be in every office and interior design classes!
