I’ve got to say it: This heavy tome speaks to me because I live a global version of ‘Country’!

The inside dust cover front flap says: “If your taste runs to natural flower arrangements, loose brightly colored slipcovers, painted furniture, quilts, braided rugs and tile floors, you are most certainly living with country style.” At least an Anglicized version of it.

“The essence of country living is its warmth and flexibility. A breath of primary color from Scandinavia, whitewash from the Greek Islands, terracotta tile from Tuscany, New England rag rugs and dried lavender from an English herb garden – all these elements and more infuse country living with… a wide range of inspirations from the historical to the natural….”
