George Lang (born György Deutsch; July 13, 1924 – July 5, 2011) was a Hungarian born American restaurateur, food and travel writer, critic and journalist. Lang was the only child of Simon Deutsch, a tailor, and Ilona Lang Lang married three times, had four children, and was divorced from his first two wives. He was married to the concert pianist, opera singer and actress Doe Lang, born Caplow.
If you're at all into Hungarian cuisine, George Lang is an essential. If you don't think you're particularly interested in Hungarian food (and believe me you are missing A LOT) - this is a great book to get just for the desserts, and specifically the cakes. I've baked many of them and they are to die for. Your guests will not stop talking.

Lang's book is the best, most useful, and completely thorough on authentic Hungarian cooking that I have found. It has enabled me to recreate some of the most delicious dishes my grandmother served me, as well as some of the exceptional pastries and cakes that were commonplace in Hungarian and Austrian coffee houses in the past. Mr. Lang's recipes are excellent, and will enable anyone to cook truly great Hungarian food.
