Reviving Evangelical Ethics book. Reuschling provides a comparison and contrast of each style of classic ethics amongst the theories themselves as well as contemporary evangelical views. For purposes of the book, she considers evangelical to mean a position in which the authority of scripture is acknowledged, a recognition of the unique salvific work of Jesus Christ, a conversion experience in response to Christ’s claims, and a commitment to evangelizing mission and ministry in the world (15).
Corbin Reuschling thus begins by describing each of these three classic models in some detail, identifying briefly their appeal to evangelical sensibilities. In her next three chapters, she describes how evangelicals have appropriated each of these models. She describes in chapter two how deontology can be located in a rather naïve "trust and obey" approach, where Scripture is read primarily as a rule book to be followed.

I just finished a really good work that is a wonderful way to get oriented or introduced to the area. it is Wyndy Corbin Reuschling's Reviving Evangelical Ethics: The Promise and Pitfalls of Classic Models of Morality (Brazos Press, 2008). In this book she first considers the three major models of moral formation in our world today: Duty ethics (Kant), Teleology or Utilitarian ethics (Mill) and Virtue Ethics (Aristotle, MacIntyre). These can be summarized as follows: 1) Duty ethics (Kant): What ought we to do? Which rules should I follow? Tied to rational and laws of nature
Synthetic biology promises similar transformation. To harness the promise and minimise the peril, it pays to learn the lessons of the past.
Synthetic biology promises similar transformation. The new biology calls all in doubt. Start with the most recent of these previous shifts. Fossil fuels have enabled humans to drive remarkable economic expansion in the present using biological productivity from ages past, stored away in coal and oil. But much wilderness has been lost, and carbon atoms which last saw the atmosphere hundreds of millions of years ago have strengthened the planet’s greenhouse effect to a degree that may prove catastrophic
