According to Nine Ways, the nine ways that the authors explore through which God speaks are: our circumstances, other people, history, nature, dreams and visions, emotions, our conscience, his Word, and our response (p. 314). This seems a plausible and fairly comprehensive list, though it is by no means an exhaustive catalog. A theologian might cringe at some sloppy sentences which could be misunderstood. But yet, I think it carries a somewhat general appeal.

What would you do if someone told you God spoke directly to him or her? What does it mean for God to speak; is it a feeling, an audible voice, a dream, or a physical presence? Does God really provide us with signs regarding His will for our lives? These questions, and many others, are pondered in this book.

I think I anticipated that this book would help me better recognize God speaking in my life. I am not sure anyone can actually help me in that area, and I think it was naive of me to think that this book would either. The book talks about ways people perceive God speaking in their lives, but it also does a fair share of casting doubt on the legitimacy of those claims. I kind of felt there was some double speak, since the book talks about ways God can speak, then seems to raise doubts as to whether those things actually are God speaking. Is God sending us a sign, or are we merely seeing what we want to see. I left the book feeling no more or less convinced about God speaking in anyone's life, let alone my own. A better title, to convey the message of the book, would be Nine Ways God May Speak.

The book has an anecdotal nature. In some ways this is good, and in some ways it is bad. It is good when relating actual anecdotes, stories of people who feel or perceive God at work in their lives. However, the anecdotal nature, when relating biblical stories, does not work for me, and instead comes across as irreverent. Some people may like this writing style, may feel better able to connect with the scripture that way, but for me, it was distracting.

I can see that this book could be very helpful and inspirational for those seeking books on spiritual growth. For me personally, however, it just did not connect.

A very inspirational book. I remember a time at church when I learned I didn't know to listen for God. Afterwords I had different experiences that I learned to hear and understand where the thought, dream, feel was coming from. The feelings that run thru your body or the sudden chills when your driving down the road and just miss being involved in a very serious accident. So surreal. With much grace you find the true love you feel within. The emptiness in your heart is gone and replaced with peace..

This is the main point the author makes. I totally bought into that idea... God does want to communicate with us, but sometimes we don't know how to listen. Some of the examples seem far-fetched, but in the spirit of realizing God isn't limited, I decided to focus on the big picture. I see much evidence of a good biblical basis in most of the book and therefore decided to ponder the parts that reverberated with the Holy Spirit inside me as I read it.

A refreshing, contemporary look at nine of the ways God always speaks. Much of the content was anecdotal. The personal accounts were touching and memorable. Thoughtful insights from the authors, along with Biblical passages and interpretations rounded out this uplifting and encouraging book.

This is a good reflexion book to be more alert to the signs (ways) God send us everyday. I would recommend this book.

I have the Kindle edition of this book. Over the years I've learned to listen to God and this book is a marvelous affirmation of the ways that God speaks to each of us if we open ourselves to God's voice. The resultant "God things" that happen in our lives from our obedience to God's voice are wonderfully illustrated by the vignettes in the book. I'd recommend it to those who know God's voice well and to those who are seeking God's voice in their lives.Nine Ways God Always Speaks: * Offer Only Available In Certain States

Making you think twice about spiritual mysteries without been too clever about it!!! Like the fact that nothing in the book make you feel inferior to the writer who obviously hear the voice of God clearer than most people!
I am really helped by this book - I have been kinda distant from God for a variety of reasons but reading this book really brings back realization that God cares and do speaks to me. It is me who has been 'tuning him out' lately. This book itself might be one of the ways God is trying to tell me his message. God bless the authors and hopefully other readers would be blessed with the book as well.
