I recently started teaching AWANA at my church and I have the 5 to 7 year olds. This Bible is one a friend of the family gave our son years ago and he really liked it. It makes the stories of the Bible understandable to younger kids and my kids in class love to look stuff up. I would recommend this to kindergarten to maybe 2nd grade kids.

UPDATE: 10/17/12 I just bought 2 more Bibles and my kids are so excited. I had 5 kids in my AWANA class last year and I have 12 this year so I needed more Bibles. They will still have to share but they will all be reading the same thing. They would get confused when they were all looking at their own versions (NIV, NKJV, KJV, etc) and someone was reading out loud from their own version. I would look up and they would have these confused faces. That is why I decided to get them all the same Bible for our lessons. There is less confusion and far more understanding when they all have the same text.

We have also done a lot of the activities that are throughout the Bible and they really enjoy them. This Bible makes learning about Jesus and other people in the Bible more fun and they are learning and retaining the information because this Bible is at their level not ours. I have a few that can't read yet and they are excited about getting more of these Bibles!!!

I bought this bible for my 5 year old. After much research and many trips to various book and Christian book stores, I finally settled on this bible. It's language and manner are such that a young child can read and understand the concept of God's love without "dumbing it down". It's not the children's bible of old, which usually is a regular bible with pictures in it. This bible actually contains sections about life in bible times and a synopsis of the books of the bible with a short summary about main theme of each book. There are also question and answer sections scattered thoughout that have a scripture reading assignment and then it suggests brief activities that your child can do to help realize that God is working in their lives all the time. My son especially loves the "Did you know" pieces. It's a very interactive bible, but the activities only help to strengthen the integrity of the Bible and it's teachings. This bible is exactly what I was searching for

like this, like a story book is wonderful to refresh me of important
incidents in the Bible.
And my daughter and grand daughter love it too.
I have given copies to New Christians who have trouble grasping
the KJ version of the Bible

I got my used, there's no reason to honestly buy new when all you need to do is read the description of the used because it saves a lot of a money and still look brand new, but shipping took FOREVER ! Like 3 weeks for one book but I live in Hawaii so that's a little part of it. GREAT LOVELY BOOK, I just started my walk with God and other Bibles confuse me and this one makes it 10x easier for me. Excellent for any age and it has a ton of descriptions in the book to further explain which is helpful!
