Series: Usborne Playtime. I got this for my four year old so we could perhaps move past stick figures (as she regularly draws far more complex things). She loves it! It's a short book, but has plenty of concepts to help her develop.

We both had a great time drawing the different people. The USBorne drawing books are all fantastic. Pick one or pick them all, as they have enough variety to justify getting them all, and your children will love them. The book has simple designs and it was easy for my daughter to make her picture look like the picture in the book.

This is a fantastic book published by Usborne which I've always been a fan of. My 4 year old's drawing extent is a circle with dots for eyes and nose, lines for hair and a crooked mouth. She loves drawing but is extremely frustrated by her limitations of the same face over and over. This book broke her out of that. No reading is required. The pictures of how to draw each animal are visual step by step instructions

My 5-year-old came home from preschool one day with an incredibly realistic drawing of a girl on horse. Up until them, her drawings were stick figures, so I said, "Who drew this?" thinking it was from a friend. Nope. Her school had this book, and she got interested and starting drawing like crazy - figure skaters (complete with hair flowing in the breeze), pirates, and lots of people on horses. Once she got the basic principles, she was able to apply them to drawings of her own imagination. When I compare her drawings from before this book to those after, I can't believe it. And she is so proud.

I bought this for my 6 year old son who only draws stick figures. As an art teacher, this is quite frustrating :(

He was interested in the book right away (it's colorful) and spent time reading through it and studying it. He then grabbed some crayons and mimicked and followed the instructions. He was quite proud of himself and his drawings afterwards.

These drawings are easy follow and colorful and easy on the eyes. The only con is that there aren't that many pictures to try. The book is quite short. And when he takes out the "girl stuff" (like ballerina) there's even less to draw and follow.

Otherwise a great book

Such a wonderful beginner drawing book. I got this for my four year old so we could perhaps move past stick figures (as she regularly draws far more complex things). She loves it! It's a short book, but has plenty of concepts to help her develop. Fun for both of us.

Our 5-year-old granddaughter was thrilled to receive this at Christmas, and it was one of the first gifts she "played" with. She immediately began copying the artistic techniques in this simple, interesting book.

This book is great! Very cute to look at, easy to follow, and the colorful, fun pictures are wonderful. We have this for my son, but all of his friends (girls and boys, 6 years old) want to draw everything on every page and they can do it very well. Steps are simple to master for ages as young as 4, and the book helps build confidence because the kids can really draw what is shown. Variations are easy too. We love it. Great gift idea!

My 5 year old dove into this book. We both had a great time drawing the different people. The book has simple designs and it was easy for my daughter to make her picture look like the picture in the book. Loved the ballerina figure!

This is worth getting for your budding artist. I got a few pointers from the book too.

My Kindergarteners can't get enough of this book! easy tutorials and really fun.
My granddaughter is four, and quite an artist. I have bought other books in this series, and she will sit for hours copying the drawings. I bought this one when it was on sale and I will give it to her for Easter.
