These stories Max Lucado writes really speak to children in a way they can relate to. Even my first graders took the concept and related it to things they were going through. When the wemmicks start making fun of Punchinello for not joining in with the latest fads, he caves and begins trying to be like everyone else. I remember reading many of Max Lucado's books when I was younger, so reading this one brought back some great memories! In his books, Max always has a lesson that is learned by the end. In this particular story, we learn that, as humans, we are constantly striving to be something or someone else other than ourselves.

First in Max Lucado's Wemmicks series. You Are Special by Max Lucado.

Punchinello sees other wemmicks with green noses. First he finds it silly Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 12 years ago. If Only I Had a Green Nose is another sequel in the series of Wemmicks

Punchinello sees other wemmicks with green noses. First he finds it silly. Then he and his friends get laughed at for not having green noses. So they get their noses painted. Soon the next color in style is red and then eventually purple is the last. Published by Thriftbooks. If Only I Had a Green Nose is another sequel in the series of Wemmicks. In this story Punchinello struggles with fads and peer pressure. Willy Withit is the Wemmick who knows what's cool, be it tall shoes, square hats or green noses. Punch and his friends fall victim. Just in Case You Ever Wonder. When it comes to prompting thick-headed authors, you wrote the book. Steve and Cheryl Green. If the country had overseers like you, we’d all sleep better. Thank you for your million and one acts of service. David Moberg and the W team. The highest standard of publishing. Your devotion to detail is exceeded only by your devotion to Christ.

A green nose. How silly, thought Punchinello. It wouldn't make him faster, stronger, or even smarter. It would only make him greener-and make him look just like all the other Wemmicks! Why would he want that when he knows Eli made each of them different for a reason?

But when Punchinello stops visiting Eli regularly, a painted nose somehow doesn't seem as foolish anymore. Now more than ever, Punchinello needs to hear his maker say, "I'll always help you be who I made you to be." Punchinello's lesson shows us how important it is to be who we were created to be, and why that matters. This story is available in board book format to encourage young hearts to be who God created them to be.

Please I urge you to purchase this book. It is VERY well made ..sturdy cover.. It will last for a lifetime of beautiful story telling ! The concept will never grow old.. DON"T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE DO OR SAY !!! Worry about yourself.. Don't concern yourself about trying to be like everyone else. How can you go wrong teaching children this lesson??? Peer pressure is a horrible thing... If this book is able to plant a tiny seed in the back of their minds and they can just put into practice at some point in their lifetime .. I am going to be myself .. and be comfortable knowing other people have experienced the stigma of worrying about being like everyone else... it will be worth every penny you invested in purchasing it.

Some books you just want to read over and over again. This is one of those books. It's another wonderful story about the wood carved people known as the Wemmick's. Punchinello is tempted by the peer pressure of his fellow Wemmick's so that he will fit in. Even though Eli, the woodcarver, gently reminds him that there is no importance in looks and the thing that actually makes us special is our own uniqueness. Eli made them each unique and special. The message to the reader then is that we should see our own selves in the same light and not worry about what others think of us.

All of Max Lucado's Wemmick books are entertaining, imaginative, well written, and beautifully illustrated. They have a fantastic message about self-esteem and making decisions to do what's right and not be swayed by what other people think is right. All around another wonderful book and a great addition to any kid's library!

I read these books to my kids all the time. They are so well written. After we read the book, we always talk about the lesson we take from it.
In our world, we have to teach our kids what matters. We have to teach them that there is a real purpose to their lives and they do not need to be seeking the approval of the world but rather the approval of God.
For families that do not believe in God, I genuinely believe that this book still has relevance and value for their children. The world is so hard on our kids no matter our beliefs and we have to teach them that there is so much more to life.

I love Max Lucado's Wemmicks stories! This one has an awesome lesson! Basically all the wemmicks are painting their noses different colors to keep up with the fad of what is "cool". In the end, Punchinello (the main character) talks to Eli, the woodcarver (supposed to resemble God), and realizes that he was made special in Eli's image and that fads aren't what makes him great. I couldn't recommend the Wemmick's series enough! The story is a great length, too. Not too long but definitely my go-to book when I want to read my daughter to sleep. She's almost always asleep by the time we finish the story (she's 2).
