Walt Disney Uncle Scrooge. has been added to your Cart. The book begins "Dream of a Lifetime" the plot of which Don admittedly got from one of his fans. The last volume of Don Rosa's compilation of Donald/Scrooge stories rhythms with the same mindset. The stories are all based on Uncle Scrooge's adventure (except one), many of which are among the longest compiled by Don. Compare it to other volumes, there are only six titles featured in this story which is lesser than any of the previous volumes. This story has been so much compared with the concept in the famous movie "Inception" but was almost a decade ahead of the later.

Reviews about Walt Disney Treasury: Donald Duck Volume 2 (7):

This is a really really fun read, highly recommended.

I bought the other Donald Duck collection - volume 1 - and while happy wasn't overjoyed. The stories were pretty good, but I left feeling that Don Rosa might have done his best work on Uncle Scrooge. I wasn't sure what to expect with this volume.

Well, you're not me, but I think you can expect to be overjoyed.

Unlike other Don Rosa stories, where often the emotion seems "forced", here he really cobbles together some lovely stories. They're touching, amusing and endlessly cheerful. Donald's despair in "Sooper Snooper" and his determination to right wrongs depicts him not as a stuttering manic but as a character the reader can engage with.

The hi-jinks - oh, and there are many - had me hooting with joy. Although, to be fair, I do hoot easily.

If you bought the last volume and enjoyed it, you'll love this one. If you bought the last volume and were ambivalent, you'll still enjoy this one.

In case you're wondering, The comics included in this volume are:
The money pit (Donald digs for coins in the money bin!)
The Master Landscapist (Donald is oddly competent at being a landscapist. Then he works for the mayor)
On Stolen Time (the beagle boys get a stop watch that stops time. Then rob Uncle Scrooge)
The duck who fell to earth (Donald falls to earth, courtesy of a aircraft-rocketship of Scrooge's)
Incident at McDuck Tower (Donald is strangely competent as a window washer. Then he washes Uncle scrooge's tower's windows)
Sooper Snooper Strikes Again (Donald gets super powers to impress his nephews)
From Duckburg to Lillehammer (Donald vs Gladstone to go to the olympics)
The duck who never was (DD hasa birthday, finds a genie, ceases to exist)
The lost Chartsof Columbus (Columbus lost some maps. Can DD and his nephews save the north american continent?)

This book is available in HC or SC editions. Also included is a very informative cover gallery.
A true must for any Don Rosa, Disney, or Donald Duck fan.

I purchased this item as an anniverary gift for my husband. Little did I know, when I initially purchased it, Don Rosa (the artist for Volumes 1 & 2) is THE guy when it comes to the best Donald Duck comics. The hubby is from Norway, and Donald Duck is HUGE over there. While I couldn't get him a subscription to new Donald Duck comics, I did buy him this (and Volume 1) and he couldn't have been more pleased.

Continuing their collection of Don Rosa's work on Donald Duck, WALT DISNEY TREASURY: DONALD DUCK VOLUME 2 contains more stories of everyone's favorite volatile mallard. This book continues the format of the previous volume, and I feel that the stories are even more enjoyable; however, as I gave the first volume 5 of 5 stars, I unfortunately can't rate volume 2 any higher. Rosa's creativity both in writing and art are on brilliant display here, such as:

"The Master Landscapist" and "Incident at McDuck Tower" - Donald shows his nephews the ropes of being a landscaper and a high-rise window washer. These are two of the funnier Rosa stories I've read. They're slapstick gold, with some hilarious sequences and gags.

"Super Snooper Strikes Again" - Donald learns how super speed, super strength, and other supposedly-glamorous abilities would work in the real world. It makes some great digs at the superhero genre and contains many excellent points.

"The Duck That Never Was" - a clever 60th birthday tribute based on the movie It's a Wonderful Life.

As with the first volume, additional covers are included, as well as the same odd afterword and photo of Rosa (leading me to believe that he has no involvement with these reprints). Also, there is a preview of the Disney's Four-Color Adventures Volume 1 trade due in September 2011.
