It doesn't matter what anyone says about this book. If you're interested in the Peterson case, then this is a must read!
I have read all the books on the Laci Peterson case and this one is definitely my favorite. My second favorite is "Inside the Mind of Scott Peterson," which also had some new interesting facts. Knight's book gives the most descriptive version of events. He uncovers many facts not found or mentioned in any of the other books. On pages 39, 40 & 41, the book explains all the details of the burglary that took place across the street from Laci around the time of her disappearance. This was a plethora of facts that I didn't find elsewhere. All the other books only briefly mentioned the burglary. The Knight book had 3 pages on it.
One of my favorite chapters in this book is "The Search." Especially the search of the open space park near Laci's home. One must read this whole chapter to appreciate it, but here's an excerpt: Mag flashlights used by police, waved back & forth through the dense foliage, poking in & out of the heavy underbrush. The thunderous clap of the helicopter propeller was heard soaring up above in the midnight sky, as the powerful beam of its giant searchlight pierced the darkness by probing relentlessly up & down Dry Creek and between many of its gargantuan obstacles....
The book brings to light that the Evelyn Hernandez case did not receive the same amount of publicity or search effort, because of possibly her race. Therefore that investigation was not fueled and solved as was the more prominent Laci case. I thought this showed charitability and kindness of the author to put this issue onto the table.
He gives a a very thorough analysis of DNA evidence in the DNA chapter. For those that are more technically inclined, this is the chapter for you. He explains any grey areas that you might have on this subject matter and how it relates to the case. What does DNA stand for?... (Got to know this if you want to serve on a jury.)
From pages 214 to 222, the book details the neo-nazis-for-hire abduction theory that had come out in the media. This was a very interesting part of the whole case, although most media outlets only covered it briefly. Here Knight has gathered all the facts available and presented them in the best format to compare to the rest of the case. Again, I was rivoted to the book as I got to this part. Earlier in the book, I thoroughly enjoyed the chapter about the affair and how all the wire-tapped conversations were printed between Scott & Amber.
He gave his version of what Geragos should have used for closing arguments. The author came up with such eye-popping hillarious ideas that even Geragos would certainly have used some of them had they been available at the time.
This is a beautifully well-written book. Anyone that has read Vince Bugliosi or Mark Furhman knows that those authors are very pompous, arrogant and macho. By comparison, Brad Knight would be considered humble. However, some might sense a hint of this same type of style and personality in his rendition on the Laci case.
After reading this book, I felt like going to the Laci Peterson home to see it and maybe photo it. I even felt like writing a book, something I didn't feel after reading the others. I've been thoroughly inspired. I hope you will be too.

I couldn't have been more disappointed in this book that reads like a self-published cheapie. The first example of the caliber of this writer's grammar came on the first page when Knight writes, "...myself and several reporters had received ..." Other examples of poor grammar and punctuation abound. Habitually plurals of names are made by adding an apostrophe and s. Speaking of the couple the Petersons, he writes Peterson's; similar errors detract from the story such as it is. Duh! Where was this guy's editor?

Of course, the biggest downer is that you don't find oout until several pages into the book that since there is so much to tell about Laci that this fine writer couldn't get it all into this book: "hence it was decided to produce a two-volume set." This was obviously written BEFORE the trial and has no pertinent information at all about what happened after Scott's arrest. Hardly the "whole story" advertised. He closes the book with "Well, I've enjoyed this little conversation with you and I do look forward to our next one which should be coming in just a few short months." At nearly 30 bucks his part one was a total rip off. I won't be springing for that next "little conversation."

Mingled in with all of Knight's sorry prose are pages and pages of O.J. rehashing that he strives mightily to make relate to the Peterson case. Included is the gem that Marcia Clark should have encouraged Chris Darden to put "his whole heart and soul into the trial" by flirting with him and saying, "You know, I'll let you have me, Baby." Knight observes that "Since Johnnie (Cochran) chose to use race as a weapon, Marcia could have retaliated with sex as a weapon." What mentality!

Over and over Knight observes he doesn't really know such and such but this is what might have happened. He relates events without giving the names of central figures; he notes he doesn't recall the name. (Hint: find out!)

My opinion (since Knight expresses many...) is that it is arrogant beyond belief to think anyone will think volume one of this shoddy work will support the publication of volume two. But, if you can sucker enough people....

I bought this book in hopes that it would offer additional insight into the Laci Peterson case. I paid around $30.00 for this book and couldn't even finish it! The author included all these personal stories about himself, that had nothing to do with the case at all! There were so many stories about himself, that I found myself skipping through the book, just trying to find content about the actual case. I finally said enough, and put it away for good. I let my aunt have it, and she only got through the second chapter. My advice is to save your money.

So full of grammatical errors that I even question the substance of the book. And, no, I'm not an English teacher.

How odd that someone who knows so little about the Peterson case would choose to write a book (Books!) about it.

First, there is nothing in here (aside from the frequent errors of fact, that is) that you can't find in, for instance, popular media articles or even the Wikipedia page. This man Brad wasn't an "insider" by any stretch except perhaps zipcode.

The writing is atrocious; the author should be ashamed at his poor grammar and writing skills, but also in his poor grasp of the case and lack of a good editor. It was also poorly researched, contained a lot of odd asides that allowed for easy interpretation of the author's various emotional issues, and wasn't especially interesting.

Glad to see the majority of the reviewers were honest about the content so folks interested in this case could get steered toward more accurate and interesting books.
