Throughout his years of service to the Nazi cause, Röhm remains dog-loyal to his master. Röhm's Nazi zeal lead him to advocate that the Nazi seizure of power should culminate in the SA absorbing if not replacing the Reichswehr as the new German army, nazified from the ground up. After Hitler wins power in January 1933, he becomes increasingly alarmed by Röhm who is now demanding that his multi-million man militia be placed on an equal footing with the Nazi Party.

Ernst RÖhm was one of the key architects behind the rise of the Nazi Party. From 1919 until 1923, following the defeat of Germany in the First World War, RÖhm served in the Freikorps and then NSDAP the Nazi Party. He served as the party's patron, promoter and watchdog, and helped found the SA, the thuggish workforce behind Nazi political activity leading up to 1933. It has been stated that the rise to power of both Hitler and the Nazi Party would not have happened without RÖhm's organisational skill, authority and influence.

Ernst Julius Günther Röhm (German: ; 28 November 1887 – 1 July 1934) was a German military officer and an early member of the Nazi Party. As one of the members of its predecessor, the German Workers' Party, he was a close friend and early ally of Adolf Hitler and a co-founder of the Sturmabteilung (SA, "Storm Battalion"), the Nazi Party's militia, and later was its commander

Location: La Paz, Bolivia. Ernst Röhm's memoirs. Could someone please help me find the right place to look for this book?

Location: La Paz, Bolivia. Post by hecarduz 27 Mar 2005 16:45. I'm anxiously looking for Röhm's memoirs, especially the one he wrote including information about his Bolivia years.

Born in November28, 1887.

Ernst Röhm was one of the key architects behind the rise of the Nazi Party. From 1919 until 1923, following the defeat of Germany in the First World War, Röhm served in the Freikorps and then NSDAP – the Nazi Party. He served as the party’s patron, promoter and watchdog, and helped found the SA, the thuggish workforce behind Nazi political activity leading up to 1933. It has been stated that the rise to power of both Hitler and the Nazi Party would not have happened without Röhm’s organizational skill, authority and influence. He took part in the Beer hall putsch in 1923, but was sufficiently disillusioned by 1925 with the prospects for Nazism that he stood for the Reichtag instead. Röhm wrote and published his memoirs in 1928 – entitled A Traitor’s Story – the year he both resumed working for the Nazis and left to serve in the Bolivian army for two years. Röhm proved to be an eloquent writer and he was candid about his experiences and his relationship with the Führer. He wrote, ‘Hitler and were linked by ties of sincere friendship.’ Little did Röhm know where that ‘friendship’ would end.

"Memoirs of Ernst Rohm" written in 1928 with an interesting subtitle "A Traitors Story"
Rohm tells us about his early life and some of his experiences in WW1. In September 1914 Rohm lost the upper part of his nose via a shell fragment, during June 1916 in Verdun Rohm was shot through his chest the bullet came out of one shoulder, on the way to a dressing station those assisting him were killed and Rohm was peppered with shapnel receiving 12 more wounds.
Rohm later descibes a red revolt in an army group in Munich this brought him close to
far right politics and later Hitler.

Rohm writes: "I had an honest friendship with Hitler,
precisely because he was so beset with flatterers who worshiped him,
I felt duty bound to speak freely as his true friend"
I wonder how Rohm felt at 6pm 1 July 1934 in cell 474 at Stadelheim Prison when Therodore Eicke {a man well suited to his time as his future panned out}
entered the cell placing down a copy of the Volkkisher Beobachter paper with either "Rohm arrested and removed" or "Cleansing of the SA" as the headline fresh off the press and a pistol with one bullet in it.
As Rohm mentioned in his book "Stadelheim Prison is not unknown to me", after the 10 minutes alloted and the bullet unused
Eicke had his underlings shoot Rohm twice "My Fuhrer, my Fuhrer" Rohm reportedly called out,
with a reply from Eicke of "You should have thought of that sooner, it's too late now" with another bullet to Rohm's chest.
In the book "The Order Of The Death's Head" Heinz Hohne says"The SS had earned itself the undying hatred of the SA.
The two Nazi Party armies were never to be reconciled,
from now on SA and SS were embattled against one another in a silent, unseen war".

I feel this book to be invaluable as a guide into the thinking of Ernst Rohm.

I wonder what he felt back again in that prison about "His True Friend" with death close ?
Perhaps the undoing of Rohm was that he underestimated the influence Hitler's flatterers had .

Was hoping for some insight on an important but unappreciated figure. Listing did not mention how heavily edited it was.

Just started reading this book and it's pretty good. Goes into good detail on Rohm's life and association with the Nazis Party. Certainly worth what I paid for it. Also some nice glossy pictures of Rohm and other Nazi dignitaries are included.

I downloaded this, thinking that it would be an interesting account of Weimar Germany and Rohm's relationship with Adolf Hitler. Well, the concept of "less is more" is obvious: Rohm's memoirs are a rambling, grossly verbose polemic against Germany's nascent republic and offer no insights into his messiah's psyche.
